In response to the deadly shooting in a California synagogue which claimed the life of one worshipper and wounded three others, Chabad of Springfield, in conjunction with the Jewish Federation and the JCRC, organized an “Evening of Jewish Unity, Solidarity, and Prayer”.
Despite the last-minute notice, many community members and some elected officials -- including the Mayor and several State Legislators -- attended the gathering held this past Tuesday at the DoubleTree - Hilton Hotel.
In addition, Chabad and the Jewish community at large were honored to welcome Governor J.B. Pritzker, who took time from his busy schedule to show support after such a horrific attack. The Governor addressed anti-Semitism squarely and unequivocally, stating that "hate has no place in the state of Illinois."
Thank you to Yisroel - Steve Rambach for capturing the feeling of unity in every photo. Thank you to the entire community for attending in solidarity against hate.
Let us increase in goodness and kindness as we await a time when such hate is banished from our midst and open goodness envelopes us all.
